As an architect and real estate professional based in New York, Matthew Chua is a founding partner of CHUA, a vertically integrated architecture and real estate development company, with investments in Canada, U.S.A., and China.
Matthew has eight years design experience in boutique hotels, super-tall towers, high-rise mixed-use, commercial, luxury retail, academic, and private residences. CHUA offers residential property management, architectural design, construction management and development services.
Matthew graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Matthew has worked on a $2 billion-dollar family-oriented indoor amusement center composed of a casino and two 5-star hotels in Macau. Other high profile project include the Lotte Super Tall Tower in Seoul and China Resources Headquarters in Shenzhen, Five World Trade Center, and One Vanderbilt in New York City. By working as an Associate Principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates for six years, he has gained experience with a variety of program types including academic, commercial, mixed-use, residential, and retail.
Matthew has taught at MIT and has served as a guest critic at MIT, Boston Architectural College, and HKU. Mr. Chua is a member of the New York American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute.
He began collaborating with +Cassia in 2016 on a high-rise retrofit project on Lexington Avenue and is an active member of the team focussed on the North American markets.
