Matthew J. Chua, AIA

Matthew graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As an architect and real estate professional based in New York, Matthew Chua is a founding partner of CHUA, a vertically integrated architecture and real estate development company, with investments in Canada, U.S.A., and China.

Matthew has works as an Associate Principal at Kohn Pederson Fox Associates (New York) from 2009-20015 on the lead design, project management, construction documentation and design coordination on notable projects including PKU Law School (Shenzhen), Lotte Super Tall Tower (1,820 ft, Seoul), China Resources Super Tall Tower (1,310 ft, Shenzhen), $2b Macau Eye Casino (Macau), and One Vanderbilt Tower (a 1,500-foot-tall office tower), and Riverside Center Building 1 (New York). Previously in 2006, Matthew served at Renzo Piano Building Workshop (Genoa) as design assistant for Astrup Fearnley Museum (Oslo) and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum extension (Boston), 3d geometric analysis for Whitney Museum (New York).

Most recently, Mr. Chua led the design of a 37-story LEED Silver residential building as part of New York's Riverside Center development in the Upper Westside. The multitower development will house ground floor retail, luxury condominiums and rental apartments as well as a signature 60,000 square foot amenity area with state-of-the-art facilities.

Mr. Chua has taught at MIT and has served as a guest critic at MIT, Boston Architectural College, and HKU. Mr. Chua is a member of the New York American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute.

He began working with xCassia in 2016 on a high-rise retrofit project in New York and is an active member of the team with a focus on developing xCassia’s footprint across the US market.
