The Shangri-La Dubai is a landmark mixed-use high-rise located along Sheikh Zayed Road, conceived as a vertically integrated hospitality and residential destination at the heart of Dubai’s primary commercial corridor. Rising approximately 200 metres (656 feet), the tower establishes a strong architectural presence within the city’s skyline, combining a five-star hotel, serviced residences, office components, and retail activation within a single, cohesive development.
With an overall built-up area of approximately 125,000 m² (1.35 million ft²), the project was delivered as a competition-winning scheme, designed to respond to the demands of Dubai’s emerging business and international travel market. The development integrates 292 hotel guestrooms and suites with 172 serviced and furnished apartments, enabling both short-term and extended-stay occupancy within a unified operational framework under the Shangri-La brand.
The architectural language draws direct inspiration from Art Deco principles, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens and informed by the vertical expression and compositional clarity of Rockefeller Center in New York. This influence is evident in the tower’s proportioning, stepped massing, and disciplined façade articulation, which together create a refined, timeless identity aligned with the positioning of a global luxury hospitality brand.
The programme is vertically organised to maximise operational efficiency and user experience. Lower levels accommodate a series of retail and food & beverage venues distributed across a multi-level podium, activating the building at street level and creating a vibrant interface with the city. These spaces serve hotel guests, residents, and external visitors, reinforcing the project’s role as both a destination and an urban anchor.
A key feature of the development is the fifth-floor health and wellness complex, which includes a range of fitness and spa facilities centred around a 20-metre swimming pool deck. Uniquely, this pool is positioned on the rooftop of an adjacent 11-storey parking structure, connected to the main tower via a 30-metre open-air bridge, creating a distinct spatial experience and separating leisure functions from the primary tower mass.
At the uppermost levels, the tower culminates in a rooftop restaurant and executive health club, offering panoramic views across Dubai and providing a more exclusive, private environment tailored to premium clientele. This layered approach to amenities reinforces the project’s dual positioning as both a high-end business hotel and a long-stay residential destination.
The adjacent parking structure accommodates approximately 791 vehicles, supporting the operational demands of the mixed-use programme while maintaining clear separation between service and guest
